Ocean Retreat – Resin Seascape Painting, Fluid and Beautiful, Handmade in Cornwall

A new piece of art from my new ‘Ocean Retreat’ series. A beautiful handmade seascape painting. I have painted with smooth, glossy art resin to create this piece, and it has taken 8 layers to build up the depth and sense of movement that I wanted to capture. Each layer has different colours and shapes, which gives the picture depth – something I haven’t been able to capture in the photos. I also created whispers of seafoam on some of the layers, it helps with fluidity I was trying to capture. I wanted to create a picture of the sea, no shore or beach, just capturing the magic of the ocean, unadulterated. The colour palette is blue running through to turquoise and green. I have added a hint of gold to add highlights – the sun catching the ocean. There is a subtle shimmer and shine to the layers, but its not ‘glittery’. I have used it to enhance the effect and depth.

I mounted the canvas in an A5 wood and white two-tone frame, which suits it well, and compliments the artwork. The resin canvas is 6 x 8 inches inside the frame. The frame can be freestanding or wall hanging. This is a modern contemporary piece, and I absolutely loved creating it! It’s very ‘clean’ – as in a relaxing, soothing piece; creating a sense of tranquility and calm. Deceptively ‘simple’ in its design. It would make a beautiful gift too, and is a totally unique piece. I shall be making more, but they take time and perfection can’t be rushed! Each piece will be unique.
