Ocean Waves Sea Light Catcher, Unique, Translucent Blues, in a Floating Frame

A beautiful handmade panel of ocean. I have created this ‘drop of ocean’ by building up 7 layers of resin. Each layer is predominantly clear and transparent, and I have then added little swirls of translucent colour, painting it in very delicately with a fine stick. Each layer is left to dry for 24 hours before I add the next one. I wanted to capture the movement and colours of the sea, when its calm and peaceful. I have used my skills as an artist who has been painting the ocean for decades, to create this piece. One of the sides is textured, the other smooth – it can be viewed from either side. Personally I prefer the textured side, but you can see the swirls of colour differently from the flat side. I wanted it to be presented in a clear frame, so the light shines though it – it took a lot of testing, researching and deliberating before I finally decided it looked how I wanted, suspended in a white ‘float frame’. The frame is made of plastic, and has 2 feet so it stands independently. The panel measures 10cm, the frame 15cm and it sits at 2cm depth – plus the width of the feet.

This is a delicate piece, visually. It would be perfect for ocean lovers, as a panel of ‘sea’ that will change depending on the lighting shining through it. I hope you see the tranquility I was trying to create, a coastal retreat kind of vibe. It’s a piece of contemporary art designed for the modern home.
