Hand-Painted Serotonin Seashell Art

This beautiful handpainted scallop shell has been adorned with uplifting, serotonin enhancing colours. I have created it to boost all those happy chemicals our mind creates! I wanted it to be bright, bold, joyful and smile inducing. I’ve been painting shells for years, in various ways and forms, but have never sold any online; in fact I’ve rarely shared them! But I have decided that I should, and we all need things that make us smile, and make us feel happy. Each one I make is unique, I use a mixture of different materials and paints, and follow my whimsy when making them.

This piece is called ‘Candyfloss Sunrise’ and has all the colours of a Sunrise over the ocean. I source the shells (all my shells inc my oyster shell work) from the food industry – their waste is my treasure! This has beautiful matt colours, and then I have picked out sections in metallic paints, with a subtle row of 3D pearl embellishment to give it a visual lift. It’s mounted in a 20 x 20 cm box frame, that sits at 3cm deep. It can be hung on a wall, or be freestanding on a shelf, side table or nook.
