Hand-Painted Serotonin Seashell Art

This beautiful handpainted scallop shell has been adorned with uplifting, serotonin enhancing colours. I have created it to boost all those happy chemicals our mind creates! I wanted it to be bright, bold, joyful and smile inducing. I’ve been painting shells for years, in various ways and forms, but have never sold any online; in fact I’ve rarely shared them. But I have decided that I should, and we all need things that make us smile, and make us feel happy. Each one I make is unique, I use a mixture of different materials and paints, and follow my whimsy when making them.

This piece is called ‘Hot Girl Summer #1’ and has all the colours of a Sunset over the Ocean. I have used some bright, eye-poppingly gorgeous pinks and used various paints. Some super matt pastels, some shocking UV pinks. Some pearlised luscious watercolours & some glorious metallic gold! There are details picked out across the shell, from vertical detailing to fading pearly shimmers. It doesn’t photograph terribly well, and I struggled to show the details. Last but not least, we have the relaxed silhouette of a girl, living her best life, chilling in a hammock, admiring the view. Living life on her terms! Mounted in a black box frame. Can be hung or freestanding. Perfect for a splash of colour & some happy summer beach vibes! This piece was inspired by my daughter, living her life to the full, independent and powerful, she is awesome.

I source the shells (all my shells inc my oyster shell work) from the food industry – their waste is my treasure! It’s mounted in a 20 x 20 cm black box frame, that sits at 3cm deep. It can be hung on a wall, or be freestanding on a shelf, side table or nook.
